Title : Assessment of the role of grazing enclosure in the preservation of steppe in the Rogassa region (Southwest of Algeria)
Abstract:
The objective of this work is to highlight the importance of grazing enclosure in maintaining biodiversity and preserving degraded areas. The analysis of the real biological spectrum of unprotected land is marked by the strong dominance of Therophytes (50%), on the other hand in grazing enclosure the Chamaephytes replace the Therophytes (+10%). Analysis of biogeographic spectra reveals the reappearance of endemic species in grazing enclosure lands (+3%). The ascending hierarchical classification made it possible to identify four plant groups for the rangelands placed in grazing enclosure. The Shannon Index is very important in grazing enclosure (2.43 bits). The analysis of variance of the Simpson index reveals a very highly significant difference at the threshold of 0.05 between the fairness of unprotected land and those put in grazing enclosure. The results of the Jaccard dissimilarity index reveal a very strong dissimilarity of order 80% between the two areas.
