Abstract:

After years of efforts, significant progress has been made in soil and water conservation in China. However, due to the lack of scientific theoretical guidance, billions of lives and properties are lost each year due to soil erosion, seriously affecting people's daily lives and the high-quality development of the economy and society. Therefore, we must be guided by the new theories of soil and water conservation, adopt some methods and measures to reduce the amount of soil erosion to the level allowed by the soil, and at the same time utilize the ecological, economic and social benefits of the water and soil conservation resources; continuously achieve the maximum soil and water conservation efficiency to meet people's yearning for a better life and the need for soil and water conservation.

Biography:

Zhongsheng Guo obtained his master's and doctor’s degree from Northwest A&F University in 2000 and his doctorate in 2004 respectively. He is currently a professor at Northwest A&F University. He put forward the theory of the limit of plant resource utilization, the theory of vegetation carrying capacity, the theory of the critical period for regulating the relationship between plants and resources, and the new theory of soil and water conservation. This is the theoretical foundation for achieving high-quality development in forestry, grassland agriculture and soil and water conservation.
