Title : Beyond 3R: The 4P proposal for strategic narratives on climate change
Abstract:
This presentation explains a participatory action project on communicating the climate emergency, which involves students aged 14 to 16. The project aims to empower the young students to create effective narratives on climate change and test a simple model for applying these narratives. The communication activity consists of videominutes created by them. In the workshops, they are advised to ensure their short videos adhere to the 4P model: Positivity, Proximity, Precision and Possibility. To maximize the diversity of cultural and climatic contexts, the research was carried out in three schools across three different countries and continents (Spain, Brazil and New Zeland). The results demonstrate the effectiveness and usefulness of this simple mnemonic device. However, each context —not only climatic, but also educational, and in terms of students' capabilities — influences the extent to which these indicators are applied. Like the 3R model, the 4P model can be implemented in different countries and environments.
